[T]echnology:
Since the pandemic, more agents are using video than ever. However, it still isn’t a priority for many agents. 🤷
I’m sure video is scary 🤡…you don’t know where to start, what equipment to use, what to say, etc.
But a crappy video will outperform the one you’re not doing every day, and homebuyers almost expect it. 86%of homebuyers use video to find out more about a specific community.
I’m not necessarily encouraging this because you will still be more relatable if you are actually in the video, but AI videos are getting pretty freaking good. You could save quite a bit of time and spit out a ton of content using invideo AI. ⬅️
It’s actually really cool, and we’re just getting started…
I literally typed in: Create a video on the top 6 burgers around Dayton, OH, chose a midwestern voice, selected YouTube shorts as my video type, and got this:
It’s not perfect and feels a little robotic, but imagine adding a custom intro that filmed introducing the video. You could have 20-25 videos created EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. 🤯
Entertainment/Education
A few weeks back, I was in Chicago for the RE/MAX Broker/Owner conference and saw Vitamin Water founder and Shark Tank Shark, Rohan Oza. Rohan has earned the name "Hollywood's Brandfather" as the mastermind behind some of today’s most iconic brands. 🤩
Rohan shared the story of starting Vitamin Water and wanting to buy a Super Bowl commercial space, but not having the budget. So he ends up paying Brian Urlacher of the Chicago Bears $50,000 to wear a Vitamin Water hat during a Super Bowl media day. 🫢
This was brilliant marketing, but about 30 seconds into the interview, someone from Gatorade caught wind (who sponsored the league for $45 million) and made a phone call, and Urlacher was told to remove his hat.
As a young company, this was a complete disaster. 🔥
A few weeks later, Urlacher was fined $100,000 by the NFL for the stunt. Not only did Rohan pay for the fine, but he saw an opportunity to turn the disaster into mega publicity.
His media team got to work, and within hours, Urlacher getting fined was a top news story…all with a picture of him wearing, you guessed it, a Vitamin Water hat. 😏
I hate the term there’s no such thing as bad press, because there definitely is, but you’ve got to know how to turn lemons into lemonade. 🍋🍋🍋
[C]oaching:
I recently sat down with teammate Rachel Gilchrest to talk about closing online leads. This particular one was sight unseen! ⬇️⬇️
Here are some of the highlights:
💡 Persistence Pays Off: It took a couple of follow-up emails to get a response. Don't give up after just one try. Keep reaching out and stay on top of communication.
💡 Personalization is Key: Believe it or not, we actually stopped using AI for all text communication because of the new rules requiring the “Opt Out” language.
💡 Video Makes a Difference: Try sending short videos to engage leads. It catches their attention more than a random text would. Make it personal and real, and maybe even show your kitchen table in the background!
[H]ow To:
If I am being 100% honest with you, there is no ✨magic✨ way to ensure that you never feel burnout. You will at some point hit a lag, and feel extremely unmotivated. We are humans and this job is extremely frustrating.
What matters is how you deal with that burn out 🔥 and the steps you take to ensure those burnouts happen less.
Our industry is very weird. We don’t technically have a set schedule. Which can sound like a dream, but we also don’t technically have off time. I think one of the most important personal skills within our industry is the skill of saying “no”. ❌
Understand your limits.
When you hold the power of how much money 💰 you make, this is extremely hard. Of course you want to pass your sales volume from last year or make the top ten within your brokerage.
✋ However, you are the only person who can take care of yourself. In order to best serve your clients, you have to help yourself.
One of the best ways to get yourself out of a funk is sticking to a schedule. When you put everything you need to do in your schedule and follow it, you’ll get energy from the accomplishments and feel better about not being overwhelmed.
The biggest challenge agents have with a schedule is sticking to it. When you teach yourself the discipline to do so, you’ll find you’ll actually have more time in your day.
With the winter coming and the market slowing, remember to not be so hard on yourself. Slow season is coming, that is just real estate. Take care of yourself, stay confident and grind it out. 💯
